2026 TE Mason Bonner commits to Michigan

Denver Mullen three-star tight end Mason Bonner has committed to Michigan.
He chose the Wolverines over Minneosta, Nebraska, Miami, Penn State and more than 10 other Power Four programs.
Bonner is the No. 693 overall prospect and No. 38 TE in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 8 player in Colorado.
On3 ranks the 6-foot-6, 200-pounder as the No. 21 TE and No. 2 player in the Keystone State. Bonner is the second tight end recruit to commit to U-M this month, following Billings (Mont.) West four-star Matt Ludwig, the No 10 player at the position this cycle.
It came down to the Wolverines and Minnesota for Bonner. Ultimately, the relationships with head coach Sherrone Moore, TEs coach Steve Casula and the U-M staff helped it win out. Bonner also sees the production at the position in Ann Arbor and is now locked in alongside Ludwig and a class that’s pushing for top-10 status in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
“I love hanging out with them,” Bonner said of the U-M staff when speaking with The Wolverine earlier this month. “They just made me feel like family. It’s really what they want to do with that program—’team over me’ is what they say—and I just loved my trip up there. It was awesome.”

More on Michigan Recruiting
Michigan now has seven commits in its 2026 class. Ludwig is one of three blue-chippers in the mix.
Newbury Park (Calif.) four-star quarterback Brady Smigiel was formerly committed to Florida State, but he landed in Ann Arbor, pledging at the end of April. He’s now the No. 91 overall prospect and No. 9 QB in the cycle.
Ludwig ranks as a top-100 recruit in the On300. Jacksonville Mandarin four-star cornerback Brody Jennings has been in the class since last July and remains locked in, despite fervent pushes from other Power Four schools.
Cartersville (Ga.) Cass three-star interior offensive lineman Bear McWhorter committed in February. Dallas Parish Episcopal three-star wide receiver Jaylen Pile and Washington D.C. St. John’s three-star EDGE Tariq Boney round things out alongside Bonner.
“Everyone that reps that block M is very proud of it and it goes a long way,” McWhorter told On3’s Chad Simmons. “Michigan is an amazing place. Seeing what the team looks like lifting together showed me a lot. I love how they work together and how they love each other. That made me want to be a part of that.”
