The big news here is that first last matchup, where Southern Miss in Hattiesberg, MS has officially been selected to host the Super Regional round against Tennessee after the Volunteers desperately hoped the committee would select them to host instead. Alas, UT will be heading south to the state of Mississippi for a bash with the Golden Eagles with a spot in the College World Series on the line.
Elsewhere, the other hosting hiccup comes with the TCU and Indiana State matchup. ISU cruised through the Terre Haute regional over the weekend and earned the right to host again in the supers against a Horned Frogs club that wasn’t a national seed. However, the two clubs will head to Fort Worth instead to play on TCU’s campus because Terre Haute is hosting the Special Olympics Indiana Summer Games and can’t fit the regional within the city.
