NCAA Baseball: Hattiesburg Super Regional
(Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports) Jun 12, 2022; Hattiesburg, MS, USA; Southern Miss outfielder Carson Paetow (37) bats in the eighth inning against Ole Miss during Game 2 of a NCAA Super Regional game at Pete Taylor Park. Ole Miss won, 5-0, and advanced to the College World Series.

The start of Friday’s Hattiesburg Regional is delayed while currently under a severe thunderstorm watch in the area, Alabama Baseball announced just before first pitch was set for 3 pm ET. Alabama (41-16) was set to take on Miami (31-24) in the first game Friday, with Columbia and 16th-seeded host Southern Miss (44-14) set to begin at 7 pm ET.

The bad weather is expected to clear the Hattiesburg area within the hour and stay mostly sunny the rest of the afternoon, according to the Weather Channel. First pitch will now be 3:45 pm ET, Alabama announced.

Alabama enters postseason play having battled with consistency of late, losing six of its last 12 games in May. That includes a 15-10 rout vsersus rival Tennessee in the second round of the SEC Touranment last week in Hoover, Ala.

At the same time, Miami has won just one of its last seven games, including a 12-2 blowout at the hands of Cal in the opening game of the ACC Tournament in Durham, NC. Those struggles followed a run where the Hurricanes won 12 of its last 13 games.
