Notre Dame coordinators Mike Denbrock, Al Golden will be on sideline during 2024 season

The Blue and Gold’s Tyler Horka reported Thursday where Notre Dame‘s offensive and defensive coordinators will be posted on game days ahead of a highly anticipated 2024 season for the Fighting Irish. As new offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock and defensive coordinator Al Golden will both appear on the sideline this season as opposed to the booth.
Denbrock will have quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli in the coach’s booth to give him a bird’s eye view and analysis of the game during his return to the Notre Dame program. With Golden leading the Notre Dame defense as well on the sidelines ahead of his third season as the team’s defensive playcaller.
Denbrock has had two separate, previous stints with Notre Dame that add up to 10 total seasons with the program. Previously spending the last two seasons as the playcaller for LSU where last year the Tigers had the nation’s top offense. Ranking No. 1 in yards and points per game in the FBS as quarterback Jayden Daniels took home the Heisman Trophy as the premier dual-threat quarterback in the country.
Duke transfer quarterback Riley Leonard also possesses rushing and passing abilities of his own, teaming up with Denbrock at Notre Dame with over 4,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards in his college career. As Leonard will look to take the Fighting Irish offense to similar heights that Daniels did for LSU with Denbrock in his corner and on the sidelines of games this season.

Golden’s defense is expected to be one of the top units in the entire country once again this college football season. Returning nine starters from last year’s group that held opponents to just 16.6 points and 282.4 yards per game ranking No. 8 in the nation in both categories. Poised to repeat their production and potentially make things a lot easier for Notre Dame’s offense.
Both Denbrock and Golden will be gracing the sidelines in a hostile Week 1 environment when Notre Dame visits Texas A&M this Saturday at Kyle Field. A campus in College Station that will host ESPN’s College GameDay and a game that will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET airing on ABC.
