On3 Power Five conference coordinators of the week for Week 5
Each week, On3 selects coordinators of the week from each Power Five conference.
Our choices for Week 5:
ACC — Virginia Tech OC Tyler Bowen, Virginia Tech DC Chris Marve
Before Saturday, Virginia Tech had dropped nine straight games against Power Five opponents dating back to last season. However, the Hokies were able to end that losing streak behind strong performances from both of their coordinators. Virginia Tech outgained Pitt 427-273 during a 38-21 win over the Panthers. Bowen led the Hokies to five touchdowns and their highest point total since 2021. Marve’s defense, meanwhile, limited Pitt to just 14 points on offense.
Big Ten — Graham Harrell, Purdue OC
Last year, Ryan Walters helped Illinois rank No. 2 in the Big Ten in total defense. On Saturday, his Harrell-led offense at Purdue exploited that Fighting Illini defense for five touchdowns during a 44-19 victory. It was the most points from an Illinois opponent since 2020.
Big 12 — Jeff Lebby, Oklahoma OC
Oklahoma’s final tune-up before facing Texas ended with Lebby’s offense producing 523 yards and six touchdowns in a 50-20 win over Iowa State. All six touchdowns and 47 of the 50 points came during the first 33 minutes of the game before the Sooners cruised the rest of the way to the victory. It came against an Iowa State defense that’s ranked either first- or second-best in the Big 12 each of the last three years.

Pac-12 — Trent Bray, Oregon State
Bray’s defense was key in Oregon State pulling out a win over No. 10 Utah. During the 21-7 victory, the Beavers limited the Utes to 198 yards and held Utah scoreless until the final five minutes of the fourth quarter. The Utes were 3 of 17 on third and fourth downs.
SEC — Charlie Weis Jr., Ole Miss OC
During an Ole Miss-LSU matchup that featured 1,323 combined yards and 104 combined points, the Rebels secured a 55-49 win over the No. 13 Tigers behind Weis and the Ole Miss offense. The Rebels posted 706 yards of total offense and finished with their highest-ever point total against a ranked opponent.
