Elkhart (Ind.) Central four-star EDGE Mariyon Dye, On3’s top-ranked prospect in Indiana, is down to eight schools, he tells On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue and Tennessee now sit atop the list for the 6-foot-5, 260-pounder.

Dye is the No. 164 overall prospect and No. 22 EDGE in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3 ranks Dye much higher than other recruiting services, however.

He checks in at No. 40 overall, No. 5 at the EDGE position and is the No. 1 player in the Hoosier State, according to the updated 2025 On300.

“I’ve been feeling good about my recruitment,” Dye told On3 earlier this month. “I know that I’m really blessed to be in the position that I am now. I’m trying to get a really good feel about some of my top schools.”

Official visits to Purdue (May 31-June 2), Georgia (June 7-9), Ohio State (June 14-16), Florida State (June 18-20) and Tennessee (June 21-23) are all currently on the schedule for Dye. the blue-chipper has not singled out a commitment timeline just yet, but he’ll pull the trigger on his decision whenever he feels ready.

“I will be ready when I get that gut feeling,” Dye said. “It will also be when I have a good feeling about my relationship with the coaches and when we have bonds that go beyond football. These relationships will be important, as well as how I fit in their scheme.”

Dye discusses some of his top schools

When speaking with On3’s Chad Simmons earlier this month, Dye provided some quick thoughts on some of his top contenders as he heads into a crucial phase of his recruitment.

Florida State: “I like the way they used Jared Verse. He was one of my favorite d-ends last year and I try to model my game after his. I really want to give them a chance and see what they have to say.”

Georgia: “They practice really hard. They look like a winning team when they practice. They practice so fast and so physically. That’s the main thing I like about Georgia and my relationships with the coaches are great.”

LSU: “I think they can win a national championship there, for sure, if they get the right pieces. I like the love that Coach Peoples has been showing me.”

Ohio State: “Ohio State would give me the chance to get coached by one of the greatest d-line coaches of all time. He’s sent a lot of d-ends to the league. That’s a really big part of my interest in them. It feels like a winning environment there.”

Tennessee: “I have a great relationship with the coaches there. It is about the people at Tennessee. They have a great environment down there.”
