Oregon lands a commitment from one of the nation's top WRs Messiah Hampton

Rochester (NY) James Monroe On300 receiver Messiah Hampton announced his commitment to Oregon during a live broadcast on the On3 YouTube Channel.
The blue-chip Hampton chose to play for head coach Dan Lanning and the Ducks over Miami, Penn State, Syracuse and several others.
“My favorite thing is just the staff,” Hampton said. His lead recruiter was future position coach Ross Douglas. “The staff is amazing. I feel like they showed I was a priority and they were invested in me.”
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Hampton becomes commit No. 8 for Oregon in the 2026 cycle. He On3’s No. 7 receiver and No. 48 prospect overall. The On3 Industry tabs him No. 14 and No. 107 respectively.
“I just felt like a priority, not just the receiver coach but the staff as a whole,” Hampton said. “I fit well on and off the field.
“Faith is big in my life and I feel like I have room to grow in my faith there without much distraction and become the the best football player and best man I can be off the field.”

Oregon’s Ross Douglas was the difference in landing Messiah Hampton
Douglas was recruiting Hampton when he was the receivers coach at Syracuse and the relationship transitioned smoothly to Oregon. They talked often and Hampton visited three times this calendar year.
“The No. 1 thing for me was how invested I feel like the coach is into my development right now in high school before I even got there,” Hampton said. “Even from his time back at Syracuse we had Zoom meetings every Monday going over route breakdowns, going over releases, going over everything. Then getting over to Oregon him telling the building about me and them showing the same love. They truly invested in my success.”
Over the last two seasons Hampton turned 90 receptions into 1,366 yards and 21 touchdowns in 20 games. Other offers including Georgia, Michigan and Ohio State. He loves the trajectory of the Oregon program under Lanning.
“Every year since he’s been there it’s been constant progress,” Hampton said. “I’m really excited about what this year is going to look like.”
