Power forward Robert Miller talks dream offer from LSU

The 6-foot-8.5, 205-pound skilled big man with long arms is putting together a very impressive sophomore campaign. He’s averaging around 14 points, nine rebounds and close to seven blocked shots per game for the 16-9 Mavericks.
The fast rising sophomores impressive season earned him his first offer December 23, and it’s a big one.
“LSU offered over Christmas break,” Miller told On3 Tuesday. “I felt real good about it because my dad went there. It was a dream school for a while now.”
Tigers head coach Will Wade extended the offer to Miller’s father, Rob Miller II. He played football at LSU, which made the offer even more impactful for the entire family.
“They have known about me for a while. Coach (Will) Wade called my dad and told him they were offering. My dad was excited too. He was excited for me. My dad said we are supposed to be going down there for a game soon.”
LSU beat other regional programs to the punch in being the first to offer. Make no mistake, Miller will be racking up offers in the coming weeks and months.
“Houston, Oklahoma and Texas are showing interest. I have been to a couple of UH games. I watched them play Texas State and Alcorn State.”

“My ball handling really. Being able to handle the ball, and not be a liability on offense. Be more of an offensive threat this year.”
Miller says his ability to affect games with rim protection is changing the way teams attack Memorial High.
“Yes sir. Teams are trying to pull me away (from the basket). And they are taking more outside shots.”
T.J. Ford breaks down Robert Miller’s game
Ford has been a key part of Miller’s accelerated development in the last few months. The former University of Texas star and NBA lottery pick trains a numbers of top players in Missouri City at the T.J. Ford Academy.
Still 15 years old, Miller is one prospect Ford and his brother have been high on since first watching him, coaching him in AAU and training him.
“My brother was in the gym at Baytown and saw him playing for Sterling. He’s 6-8, long wingspan, has a high IQ, understands the game of basketball at his size, can rebound and has toughness. He can shoot on the perimeter and handle the basketball. Big time shot blocker, he can run the floor and start the break. He’s a guy rat and a good teammate. He’s a unique talent. We will use him brining the ball up and getting the offense started.”
