The Quinn Ewers saga continues to take twists and turns. However, On3’s Gerry Hamilton was able to see through the weeds and make a confident prediction where Ewers will end up.

According to Hamilton via the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Ewers is predicted to land at Texas.

Earlier, Hamilton reported that Ewers was narrowing his decision down to two teams. The aforementioned Longhorns, and the Texas Tech Red Raiders were in play. The news came after Hamilton stated that the star prospect was no longer considering the TCU Horned Frogs as an option.

Furthermore, Ewers is intimately familiar with the Texas program. Once upon a time, he was once committed to the Longhorns. The high-level prospect has NFL aspirations, so interest in playing under offensive guru and Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is palpable.

Moreover, according to Justin Wells of Inside Texas, upon hearing the news Ewers was in the transfer portal, Sarkisian immediately went to Southlake Carroll (Texas) High School to visit with Ewers and his parents. Evidently, the meeting went well — lasting at least three hours.

Earlier this year, Ewers left high school a year early to enroll at Ohio State. However, the Dallas native took just two snaps for the Buckeyes this season, choosing to enter the transfer portal afterwards. With current quarterback and Heisman finalist C.J. Stroud in Columbus for at least one more year, the writing was on the wall for Ewers.

Finally, Hamilton reports that name, image and likeness opportunities are not a factor driving Ewers’ decision. The star recruit has reportedly already made in the in excess of $1 million from previous partnerships. Ewers just wants to see the field as soon as possible. As you can see, that makes Texas, a team that dealt with uncertainty at the position, a prime destination.

Quinn Ewers had a ‘hard’ time adjusting in Columbus

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound true freshman did not have a smooth transition to college at Ohio State according to his former head coach, Ryan Day.

“I think he would tell you that it’s been hard for him,” Day said. “Kind of jumping into this thing during the preseason, and then being out for a bit of a stretch. We’re trying to get him as much information as we can. But there’s a lot of catching up to be done there.

“He’s trying. He’s working at it but once we get to the season, it’s hard to catch guys up and get them reps because we need to get the guys reps who are going to be in the game.”

Ewers’ decision came the same week Ohio State’s third-string quarterback Jack Miller also entered the transfer portal, leaving Stroud and Kyle McCord as the two scholarship quarterbacks on the Buckeyes’ roster.
