John Turntine, a disciplined and development-driven lineman, is a top Texas target, valuing relationships and coaching. Texas faces competition from Tennessee and Michigan. Felix Ojo, a five-star tackle, also visited and emphasized how Texas makes him feel like their “franchise player” without overwhelming him with pressure.

Speedster KJ Edwards from Carthage returned to campus with strong Texas-AM competition. Chad Scott’s new role as RB coach has shifted momentum toward Texas. KJ’s explosive plays, track speed, and family connections with younger brother JD (a future prospect) make him a high-value target.

Four-star DB Samari Matthews from North Carolina will visit Texas, a childhood favorite. He brings physicality, football IQ, and versatility. Despite interest from Miami and Florida State, his ties with Texas coaches and desire to understand Austin’s culture could sway his decision.

Kosi Okpala from Katy Mayde Creek is being heavily pursued by Texas, TAMU, and Oklahoma. His motor, explosiveness, and attitude remind scouts of David Gbenda. The Longhorns view him as a must-get in-state linebacker for both culture and on-field performance.

A shared trait among defensive line targets is positional flexibility—capable of playing multiple DL spots, aligning with the NFL’s demand for adaptable front-line talent. Texas coaches are crafting a class that can disguise looks and create mismatches.

Many top recruits including Matthews, Edwards, and Ojo have set summer official visits. Some, like Edwards, aim for early August commitments. These visits will likely define the cycle’s outcomes.
