Big Ten expansion is going to come with expanded plans for the league’s title game, with Las Vegas reportedly set to be added to the host sites for the Big Ten championship game in the near future.

That news comes courtesy of the Miller & Condon on KXnO radio program, which reports “at least a couple of Vegas title games are coming” at Allegiant Stadium in the near future. The Big Ten Championship Game won’t be permanently relocated from Indianapolis.

The Big Ten Championship Game was first introduced in 2011 following a round of conference expansion. The game has aired on FOX and has been played at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

It’s worth noting the current contract with Lucas Oil Stadium only has one year remaining.

The possibilities for some intriguing matchups certainly exist going forward, thanks to some additional conference expansion in recent weeks.

In addition to UCLA and USC coming over from the Pac-12, a move that has been known about for about a year, the conference also recently announced the additions of Oregon and Washington. The four traditional West coast powers will join the Big Ten, giving the conference coast-to-coast appeal.

If the reports of a championship game in Las Vegas are accurate, it also means some of those programs could have a bit of a home-turf advantage in the Big Ten Championship Game in the coming years. Though it’s not certain when or how often the game will be played in Las Vegas.

Ohio State and Wisconsin are tied for the most Big Ten Championship Game appearances with six each, doubling the next closest league members. Michigan State has made three appearances, while Michigan, Northwestern and Iowa have each made two appearances.
