Former Arizona State coach and current TCU analyst Todd Graham is considering running for Congress in Arizona, according to Jeremy Duda of Axios Phoenix. He reportedly has “strong interest.”

Despite being on the TCU staff, Graham maintains a residence in Arizona. He’d be the latest sports figure to pivot towards politics.

“Coach Graham is definitely interested in this race,” Jarred Brejcha, an Oklahoma political consultant, told Axios. “He’s an Arizonan by choice, absolutely loved his time coaching ASU and just has a passion for the country.”

Graham is in the middle of his second season at TCU as an analyst under Sonny Dykes. He was most recently the head coach of Hawaii from 2020-21 and also had head coaching stops at Rice, Tulsa, Pittsburgh and the aforementioned Arizona State.

Graham is 106-72 overall as a college head coach but was most successful at Tulsa. After a 7-6 season at Rice in 2006, his lone season, Graham led Tulsa to a 36-17 mark over the course of four years, including a No. 24 AP Poll ranking in 2010.

That led him to Pittsburgh in 2011, where he led the Panthers to a 6-6 record. However, he suddenly left after the regular season to coach Arizona State.

Graham went 46-32 overall with the Sun Devils, going 2-3 in bowl games and led ASU to back-to-back 10-win seasons in 2013 and ’14. However, he and the school mutually decided to part ways following the 2017 season.

Graham returned to coaching in 2020, leading Hawaii. He went 11-11 in two seasons but resigned in January of 2022 following allegations of mistreatment of players. It led to a transfer portal exodus, which included his son Michael.
