Robert Griffin III ranked his top six Heisman favorites with a surprising No. 1 player at the top of his list. This is after Week 12 of the college football season and it includes offense and defense!

Not only that, but Griffin has two players from a single school within his top six. This race could get real interesting.

He revealed his latest Heisman favorites on Outta Pocket With RGIII. Let’s dive into the talented bunch.

1. Jacob Rodriguez, LB – Texas Tech

Rodriguez is the Heisman favorite per Griffin. The Red Raiders linebacker has been stellar on defense and head coach Joey McGuire even did him a favorite this past weekend. He scored an offensive touchdown!

It’s going to be very hard for him to win the award, considering Travis Hunter was the last defender to win it (last year) but played two ways consistently. Still, Rodriguez has 100 total tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, one sack, four interceptions, six pass deflections, one touchdown and seven forced fumbles!

2. Marcel Reed, QB – Texas A&M

Reed has been piloting a 10-0 Texas A&M team that has SEC and College Football Playoff national title aspirations. He’s been as good as advertised too.

This season, Reed has 2,632 yards, 22 touchdowns, eight interceptions and a 61.5% completion percentage. He also has 391 yards rushing and six touchdowns on the ground.

3. Fernando Mendoza, QB – Indiana

Next on Griffin’s Heisman list is the Indiana signal caller. Mendoza had his moment against Penn State, throwing the winning score in what was a more impressive catch by Omar Cooper. Catch of the year!

But Mendoza also quarterbacks an undefeated squad as Indiana is also in the national title picture. He has 2,641 yards, 30 touchdowns (FBS leading), five interceptions and a 73% completion percentage.

4. Julian Sayin, QB – Ohio State

You want to talk about a guy who is accurate? Then you have to talk about Sayin. The Buckeyes transitioned seamlessly to this quarterback who’s in the Heisman race.

This year, he has 2,675 yards, 25 touchdowns, four interceptions and an absurd 80.1% completion percentage. It does help that he has Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate to throw to.

5. Haynes King, QB – Georgia Tech

Griffin gave a little love out to ACC country with King getting some Heisman buzz. Georgia Tech is in line to win the ACC this year and it’s in large part due to King.

This man can really run the football too. This year, King has 2,259 yards, 10 touchdowns, two interceptions, a 72.7% completion percentage, 807 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns.

6. Jeremiyah Love, RB – Notre Dame

Now to the running back portion of the Heisman list. Love has been a large part of the Notre Dame offense this year and last, en route to a national title game berth.

It’s been no different as he tries to expand his campaign to the masses. This year, Love has 1,135 yards, 14 touchdowns, 6.4 yards per carry, 26 catches, 274 yards and three touchdown receptions.
