SEC Football Odds: Championship contenders ranked after 2025 Preseason Coaches Poll

Monday morning brought a clear sign that college football is nearly back. The preseason Coaches Poll was released, giving us a preview of what the season ahead could look like. Of course, the first step for every program out there is finding success within their conferences.
Everyone wants to win a conference championship, even more so than the SEC. Not only is an automatic bid to the College Football Playoff earned but there’s a good chance a bye will be included as well.
BetMGM has updated odds on who will end up lifting the trophy from Atlanta. Let’s check out the entire list, starting with a participant in last season’s game.
Texas Longhorns (+250)
Texas wasted no time making its presence felt inside the SEC. Making the SEC Championship game was a major accomplishment for the program after joining from the Big 12.
Now, the Longhorns expect to be back inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium this December. Possibly even have a little more fun on the field this go-round, getting to talk to Greg Sankey.
Georgia Bulldogs (+300)

As Texas was experiencing a new setting, Kirby Smart‘s team was quite comfortable. SEC Championship No. 3 since Smart took over, this may have been the best of them all thus far.
BetMGM believes they will be right in the middle of the race once again. Maybe a rematch from last year’s game could be on the agenda.
Alabama Crimson Tide (+475)
Nobody quite knew how Alabama would fare heading into the Kalen DeBoer era. The Crimson Tide started out hot early but disappointed down the stretch with some head-scratching losses.
Even so, some massive improvements are expected. Alabama is among the favorites to win the SEC and bring winning ways back to the program.
LSU Tigers (+750)
A massive season is ahead in Baton Rouge. For now, all focus is on the opener against Clemson, a game LSU is putting a ton of emphasis on after starting the previous five years with a loss.
However, LSU’s season will be defined by how well it performs against SEC opponents. Enough talent is thought to be on campus in order for the ceiling to be met.
Texas A&M Aggies (+1400)

Texas A&M was one win away from playing in last season’s SEC Championship. A loss to Texas killed their dreams but everyone in College Station believes the goal is attainable.
Marcel Reed will be back leading the offensive troops. And you can never doubt a Mike Elko defense, looking to stay in form despite losing plenty of bodies to the NFL Draft.
Ole Miss Rebels (+1600)
There might be some unfinished business in Oxford after falling short in 2024. Ole Miss is not wanting to see a drop off moving forward, even if a lot of talent has left the building

Oddsmakers at BetMGM still like where the Rebels stand. Comfortably inside the top 10, getting to the SEC Championship would be a first for Ole Miss.
South Carolina Gamecocks (+1800)
LaNorris Sellers and Dylan Stewart. Those are the two names you think of when discussing why South Carolina could be a competitor inside the SEC this season.
It’s tough to be a top dual-threat quarterback on one side, only to face an elite pass rusher when possession flips over. South Carolina knows they have two of the best, ready to cash in on their talents.
Florida Gators (+2000)

Compared to a year ago, the mood around Florida has completely changed. A lot is being put on quarterback DJ Lagway, who has the potential to be one of the SEC’s top quarterbacks if healthy.
Considering the schedule, getting to the SEC Championship game would be a massive win for Billy Napier. If there is a little heat on his seat, you have to imagine it would turn quite cold pretty quickly.
Tennessee Volunteers (+2200)
Massive progress was made by Tennessee last season, making the College Football Playoff. However, the program has since been involved with the biggest offseason story in the sport.
Josh Heupel has moved forward, turning his attention to the playing field. Tennessee was last in Atlanta in 2007 but has not won the title game since 1999.
Auburn Tigers (+2200)
Expectations have risen for Hugh Freeze entering his third year in charge. The time to get results has come, bringing in multiple recruiting classes while also working the NCAA transfer portal.
Auburn rounds out the top 10, tied with Tennessee from an odds perspective. Hopefully, the schedule can do them some favors to become a potential SEC darkhorse.
