Spencer Shannon commits to the Texas Longhorns
On3 Consensus 3-star tight end Spencer Shannon is headed to the Lone Star State for college.
The 6-foot-7, 230-pounder with plenty of frame for growth committed to the Texas Longhorns Monday over Washington and UCLA following an official visit June 9-10.
The Longhorns won over Pac-12 competition due to Steve Sarkisianās relationships around the Mater Dei program, and the work of tight ends coach Jeff Banks.
Shannon began the official visit process in May. He made a visit to UCLA May 6, and followed with a trip to Washington May 20. UCLA also received an unofficial visit in late January. He also made an unofficial visit to Tennessee in March.

Shannon began his junior season with offers from Minnesota and Utah State. He added 13 more offers since September 1 of 2021, including 10 Power 5ās. The offer list includes Boston College, California, Tennessee, Duke and Washington State in addition to the three finalists.
Texas adds to No. 11-ranked class
The Longhorns had the nations No. 11-ranked class prior to Shannonās commitment. Texas now has six commitments headlined by On300 linebacker SāMaje Burrell and On300 wide receiver Ryan Niblett. On300 defensive lineman Dylan Spencer was a spring riser with college coaches as well. He turned in a strong performance at Texas camp over the weekend.
