St. Joseph's transfer guard Xzayvier Brown signs with Oklahoma Sooners

St. Joseph’s point guard transfer Xzayvier Brown has signed to play for Porter Moser and the Oklahoma Sooners after committing publicly on Monday night.
His decision comes shortly after OU hired St. Joe’s assistant coach Justin Scott — Brown’s stepdad — to the coaching staff. Brown started in 30 of his 32 appearances as a sophomore. He averaged 17.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 36.2 minutes per game. While doing so, he shot 42% from the field, 35% from beyond the arc, and a staggering 90% from the free throw line.
He was also named a first-team All-Atlantic 10 selection and scored 20-plus points in 14 of the team’s games this season.
Brown played high school basketball at Roman Catholic (PA), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 248 overall player and No. 39 point guard in the 2023 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
He joins a Sooners transfers class that also includes Notre Dame forward Tae Davis and former Kansas State and Miami guard Nijel Pack. All three will be counted on for major contributions, as the Sooners look to replace their top six scorers off of last year’s roster, including star freshman Jeremiah Fears, who entered the NBA Draft earlier this month.
