Saturday afternoon, Texas A&M made history with its comeback win over South Carolina at Kyle Field. Afterward, the Aggies’ social media team trolled the Gamecocks using a Shane Beamer interview clip.

The Texas A&M Football X account pulled a clip of Beamer saying, “We’re not surprised” after the Aggies came back from a 30-3 deficit to get the 31-3 victory on Saturday in College Station. Entering Saturday, SEC teams were 0-286 when trailing by 27 or more points, and Texas A&M not only bucked that trend, but pulled off the largest comeback in program history.

As a result, the social media team was ready to celebrate. The group pulled the sound bite from Beamer’s interview with ESPN’s Taylor McGregor to continue the victory lap.

Texas A&M struggled mightily through the first half on Saturday, and quarterback Marcel Reed particularly had a rough go. He threw two interceptions and lost a fumble on a strip-sack, which South Carolina took back for a touchdown. Reed also completed 6-of-19 passes for 141 yards.

However, the Aggies completely flipped the script in the second half. They not only scored 28 unanswered points, but out-gained South Carolina 371-76 after the break. Reed wound up finishing the day with 439 yards and three touchdowns on 22-of-39 passing. KC Concepcion emerged as the top receiver with seven catches for 158 yards while Ashton Bethel-Roman had four catches for 139 yards and a touchdown.

With the victory, Texas A&M avoided disaster in the SEC race. The Aggies entered Saturday with a perfect 9-0 record for the first time in three decades, but they were also atop the SEC standings. A loss would have made them one of four teams with one loss – joining the group of Georgia, Ole Miss and Texas.

From a College Football Playoff standpoint, Texas A&M stayed very much in the mix for a first-round bye in the 12-team bracket. A loss might not have taken the Aggies out of the bracket, but it would have severely impacted their chances of becoming a Top-4 seed.

Texas A&M now has two games remaining on the schedule as it looks to not only carve out a path for the College Football Playoff, but also the SEC Championship. A non-conference break awaits next week as Samford comes to town for Senior Day, but the season finale is sure to have plenty of implications, as well. The Aggies will head to Austin to take on a surging Texas team on Black Friday.
