Texas Haters Unite: Baker Mayfield, Alex Caruso take heavy shot at 'delusional' Longhorns, Cowboys fans

Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take put together a nightmare interview duo for fans of the Texas Longhorns. Former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield is enough to get an eye roll from people in Austin. Add in former Texas A&M basketball star Alex Caruso and it’s a rivalry double whammy.
So when asked what team they hate more than any, Caruso brought up Texas. Mayfield quickly agreed with him, finding a common interest between them. While not many words were used to give their thoughts on the Longhorns, the point certainly got across.
“Losers,” Caruso said. “Bunch of losers,” Mayfield followed.
Mayfield has never been afraid to badmouth Texas when given the opportunity. After all, he is one of the more iconic Oklahoma players of all-time.
Three games in the Cotton Bowl resulted in two wins for Mayfield, taking great pride in beating the Longhorns. You could even go back to his days in Lubbock with the Texas Tech Red Raiders, his first opportunity to go up against his hometown program.
As for Caruso, he admitted the hatred for Texas goes back to his childhood. Due to Texas A&M leaving for the SEC right after arriving in College Station, Caruso only got one chance against the in-state rival. Opportunity taken as Texas A&M beat Texas 84-73 in November 2015. Caruso did not have the best day personally, though, finishing with two points, three rebounds, and two assists in 22 minutes played.

Mayfield then took the conversation one step further, where Caruso joined in. The Dallas Cowboys were brought up and the reviews were not great. In fact, the duo believes there is a good amount of crossover in character between Texas and Cowboys fans.
“Texas fans and Cowboys fans are very similar,” Mayfield said. “Very delusional.”
Plenty of people in Dallas wear burnt orange on Saturdays only to turn around and cheer for the Cowboys on Sunday afternoons. At the same time, it’s a city big enough where all kinds of sports fandoms find their way into city limits. A plethora of Longhorn and Cowboys haters exist out there.
Caruso and Mayfield are two of them. While Caruso did not reveal his favorite NFL team, he grew up in College Station. Maybe the Houston Texans are an option given his age and birthplace. And then Mayfield directly competes against the Cowboys (holding a 1-1 record against them), currently playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
