Texas has entered the fray for Euless (Texas) Trinity four-star running back and Oklahoma State commit Ollie Gordon.

Longhorns assistant head coach, tight ends coach and special teams coordinator Jeff Banks extended an offer Tuesday to Gordon, who ranked as a top-10 running back in the country by On3.

The On3 Consensus – a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies – has Gordon as the No. 201 overall recruit in the nation.

On3 ranks him about 50 slots higher at 152 in the 2022 On300, which makes him the ninth-best running back in the nation. Tyler (Texas) Tyler Legacy’s Jamarion Miller is the only tailback ranked ahead of Gordon from the Lone Star State.

Gordon has a remarkable junior season for Euless Trinity, rushing for 2,000 yards and 28 touchdowns on 9.9 yards per carry. He started this season at quarterback for the team before returning to his natural position of running back midway through the year.

Despite the position switch, Gordon finished the high school season with even better stats than he did in 2020. Gordon rushed for 2478 yards and 35 touchdowns on the season. He rushed for 100 yards in each of his five games at quarterback

In his final game this past weekend against Allen (Texas) High in the regional semifinal, Gordon had 25 carries for 138 years plus a 51-yard reception.

Texas has the No. 10 ranked class in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking, while Oklahoma State has the No. 28 overall class.

The Longhorns have one running back commit in their class in Houston Klein Cain’s Jaydon Blue. Blue is a four-star prospect and the No. 176 player in the On3 Consensus.

Gordon is the second-highest rated commit in the Pokes class after Edmond (Okla.) Santa Fe four-star wide receiver Talyn Shettron.
