Top-100 EDGE Damien Shanklin sets August commitment date
Indianapolis Warren Central four-star EDGE Damien Shanklin has moved up his commitment to August 29, he announced on social media.
Shanklin’s commitment was initially set for September 21.
He is the nation’s No. 85 overall prospect, No. 12 EDGE and top recruit from Indiana in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Shanklin will take an official visit to Ohio State this weekend. He told Lettermen Row back in March that Ohio State was his “dream school.”
That being said, LSU currently has momentum in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) for Shanklin. While they slightly trail Notre Dame in the RPM, On3’s Steve Wiltfong and LSU insider Billy Embody each logged expert predictions for the Tigers to land Shanklin.
Shanklin took his official visit to Baton Rouge last weekend and raved to On3 about the trip.
“It was amazing,” Shanklin said. “I was able to sit down and chill with the staff and players and I also feel very bought in there. Literally talked to the whole staff this weekend because the bond is there and also enjoyed my time with the recruits. But everything was great about the visit. Nothing but positive energy.”
He still has official visits besides Ohio State scheduled for this month: Tennessee on June 14 and Alabama on June 21.
