Kentucky star freshman TyTy Washington Jr. has been ruled out for the rest of the game against Auburn due to a left ankle injury, Kentucky Men’s Basketball tweeted out at halftime.

Washington Jr. went up to shoot a floater and landed on teammate Oscar Tshiebwe’s leg, twisting his ankle in the process. The guard immediately went down, clutching his ankle.

He popped right back up, but was taken to the locker room for further evaluation late in the first half. Washington Jr. was shown on the CBS broadcast limping, but putting pressure on the ankle as he walked through the tunnel and to the back.

CBS sideline reporter Gary Parrish told Brad Nessler and Bill Raftery that TyTy Washington told staff that he did not believe the ankle injury was serious. He also began putting more weight on his leg as time passed.

Washington Jr. finishes the game against No. 2 Auburn with four points (2-4 shooting) and one assist. Washington is averaging 14.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game over 18 games this season. He is also shooting over 50% from the field and 40% from the 3-point line.

Kentucky was leading 25-16 when Washington Jr. was injured with 8:21 left in the first half. Auburn came back and trailed 33-29 heading into halftime. The second half is underway at Auburn Arena.
