USC is hiring a former Oregon and New England Patriots offensive line coach to its staff as an analyst, On3 has learned. Adrian Klemm is joining the Trojans as a defensive analyst, per a source.

Head coach Lincoln Riley has openly talked about bringing in an analyst with offensive experience to work on the defensive side of the ball. According to WeAreSC’s Erik McKinney, Klemm worked extensively with Rob Ryan and the linebackers at USC’s first practice of fall camp on Wednesday.

Klemm spent 2019 to 2021 as the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offensive line coach before returning to the college game as a major piece of Dan Lanning’s staff. He held the associate head coach and run game coordinator titles during his time with the Ducks. Klemm accepted a job in February 2023 on Bill Belichick’s staff with the New England Patriots.

Before coaching in the NFL, Klemm produced several all-conference players and NFL draft picks at both UCLA and SMU. He was nationally recognized as a recruiter at both stops. Klemm earned the 2012 Pac-12 Recruiter of the Year recognition. The Los Angeles native played college football at Hawaii and was selected by the New England Patriots in the second round of the 2000 NFL Draft. He won three Super Bowls with New England, where he played for four seasons before spending a year with the Green Bay Packers.

During his time at Oregon, he helped the Ducks land the No. 5 offensive tackle in the nation in Josh Conerly Jr., who was selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft.

Klemm stepped away from the Patriots during the 2023 season due to a medical issue. He was then among the group of assistants that did not return to the organization after New England parted ways with Belichick.
