USF at Miami weather delay: When Week 3 game will resume

Shortly after the start of the second quarter, No. 18 USF at No. 5 Miami entered a weather delay Saturday afternoon. Lightning was detected in the area, leading to the pause in action.
After a near-hour and a half delay, play will officially resume at 7:07 PM ET.
“Well they’re pulling both teams off the field,” The CW Network‘s Thom Brennamen said on the broadcast. “Lightning has been detected eight miles from the stadium, so they’ll put a halt on this one.”
No. 18 USF jumped into the AP Top 25 Rankings this week following massive wins over No. 25 Boise State and No. 13 Florida to kick off its 2025 season. No. 4 Miami opened its season with a 27-24 win over No. 6 Notre Dame and rolled Bethune-Cookman 45-3 last week. These sequence of events set up the monstrous top-20 matchup between the in-state foes in what has to be the biggest broadcast in the history of The CW Network.
Miami opened Saturday’s game strong with a nine-play, 75-yard drive capped off by a Carson Beck eight-yard passing touchdown to wide receiver Joshua Moore. Mario Cristobal’s vaunted Hurricane defense quickly forced a punt, putting the ball back in the hands of Beck. The Georgia transfer led yet another masterful drive, which once again culminated in a Beck-to-Moore touchdown.

Facing 3rd & 7 from the USF 39-yard line, Beck found Moore in stride for a 39-yard touchdown to make it 14-0 ‘Canes. USF didn’t quite lie down however, as Bull quarterback Byrum Brown found receiver Chas Nimrod for a 43-yard completion on 3rd & 7 from their own 28-yard line. This drive resulted in a Nico Gramatica 45-yard field goal, cutting into the 14-point Miami lead.
When the game was delayed, Miami had just gone three & out and punted back to USF. When the game ultimately resumes, Alex Golesh‘s squad will have the ball on their own 25-yard line.
