WATCH: Aaron Rodgers explains thought process regarding decision on toe surgery

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers needs to make a decision soon on his nagging fractured toe. While the Pack is in the bye week, Rodgers is considering getting surgery.
As severe as that sounds, according to the reigning NFL MVP, he could have surgery and fully recover within a couple of days.
“We’re hoping to avoid surgery, obviously, but the surgery would be such a minor one that it wouldn’t be something that I’d have to miss time out for,” Rodgers shared on his weekly appearance with the Pat McAfee show.
“With these reports, I don’t know where they’re coming from. There are coaches that might have friends in the media that they leak stuff to.”
Rodgers told McAfee that the surgery would immobilize his toe and reduce further displacement.
“We’ll reassess later this week and early next week, the ultimate goal is to not have to do it,” Rodgers said.
The Packers are also still in the dark on what Aaron Rodgers will do.
“I don’t know where that’s at. I know he’s gathering other opinions. So, we’ll see where that goes,” head coach Matt LaFleur said on Rodgers’ fractured toe on Monday.

Rodgers, Packers healing over the bye week
The Packers are headed into their much-needed bye week after a 36-28 victory over the Los Angeles Rams. This week off will give injured Green Bay players a chance to rest and rehab.
Rodgers had earlier joked that he wouldn’t say how the injury happened, only saying it was during quarantine after his positive COVID-19 test.
Although the Packers, Rodgers, and coach Matt LaFleur would like for the injury to be healed over the bye, it’s likely that the injury will linger a bit longer.
Rodgers is putting together a solid season leading Green Bay. He’s thrown for 2,878 yards and 23 touchdowns with just four interceptions. The Packers will host the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Dec. 12 at 8:20 p.m. ET at Lambeau Field.
