Ty Simpson has inked his first NIL deal since being named the Alabama starting quarterback. The redshirt junior has partnered with the global fashion and lifestyle brand Hugo Boss for the 2025 season.

Through the deal, Simpson will wear Boss apparel off the field, including at official events, gameday appearances and interviews. Financial terms were not disclosed. His agency, QB Reps, has also negotiated recent endorsement deals for Simpson with EA Sports, Raising Canes, Hollister, Panini and Topps.

“We all want to look our best and find the right fit and style, so to be able to partner with Boss is a dream,” Simpson said in a statement to On3. “It’s kind of surreal for a kid from Martin, Tennessee, to be wearing one of the world’s most iconic fashion brands. I’m incredibly excited and grateful.”

When Simpson first arrived at Alabama in 2022, he preserved a redshirt as Bryce Young returned as the starter. Jalen Milroe then won the starting job in 2023 before running it back in 2024, meaning Simpson was again in a backup role.

Rather than enter the transfer portal, the former five-star recruit waited his turn. Now, he has his opportunity. Simpson has appeared in six games each of the last two years after playing in four games as a freshman in 2022. During his time in Tuscaloosa, he’s thrown for 381 yards while adding 130 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Alabama opens the season on Aug. 30 at Florida State. Ty Simpson has a $561,000 On3 NIL Valuation. The On3 NIL Valuation is calculated by combining Roster Value and personal NIL. Roster value is the value an athlete has by being a member of his or her team at his or her school, which factors into the role of NIL collectives. NIL in an athlete’s name, image and likeness and the value it could bring to regional and national brands.

“The guys are understanding the concepts and control of the offense a lot better as a room, and Ty was the best at that,” Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb recently said. “His ability to command and create out of the pocket, I thought, was the best. Made great decisions. And yeah, he’s just much cleaner on some of the things that you expect an older quarterback’s ability to do.

“I think he’s just gotta keep improving on things that he knows he has to work on.”
