ESPN announces 2024 Super Regional round was most-watched since 2009

The 2024 NCAA baseball tournament is set to wrap up in the coming weeks with the College World Series in Omaha, but fan interest is already hitting some high watermarks. According to ESPN, the 2024 Super Regional round of the tournament was the most-watched in 15 years, since 2009.
Overall, viewership for the Super Regional games, all broadcast on the ESPN family of networks, averaged around 500,000 viewers. That’s a 22% increase from 2023.

Additionally, a pair of Super Regional games — from separate series — were the two-most watched, non-CWS games that ESPN has aired, each pulling in 1.2 million viewers. Those two games: Game 2 of the Clemson Super Regional, a raucous game won by Florida, and Game 3 of the Athens Super Regional, where NC State outlasted Georgia to punch the final ticket to Omaha.
And with plenty of high-profile matchups set for Omaha, ESPN could be due for some more big ratings from the college baseball postseason.
The College World Series kicks off on Friday
Here are the teams participating in the 2024 College World Series, listed in alphabetical order.
- Florida Gators
- Florida State Seminoles
- Kentucky Wildcats
- North Carolina Tar Heels
- NC State Wolfpack
- Tennessee Volunteers
- Texas A&M Aggies
- Virginia Cavaliers
While the Super Regionals were full of underdog stories, seven of the participants in Omaha were national seeds heading into the NCAA Tournament. Florida is the only one that did not host a regional, going through the Stillwater Regional and then winning the Clemson Regional in three games.

Arguably a controversial addition to the tournament field, the Gators have turned into one of the hottest teams in all of college baseball. Having Jac Caglianone on your roster certainly helps, being the best two-way player in the sport. A star of last year’s College World Series, Caglianone is once again set the shine on the biggest stage.
Games 1 and 2 of the College World Series are set to begin on Friday, with one side of the bracket getting things kicked off. Matchups have already been set, with North Carolina facing Virginia at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN and Tennessee playing Florida State as the nightcap. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT on ESPN.
Games 3 and 4 will take place on Saturday as the other bracket get their journeys in Omaha underway. Kentucky and NC State make up the second ACC vs. SEC matchup while Florida and Texas A&M will meet for the fourth time this season. Both start times and TV designations are the same as the day before.
