Gage Wood releases T-shirts celebrating College World Series no-hitter through NIL deal

Monday afternoon, Gage Wood made College World Series history. He threw the third no-hitter in the history of the event – and he’s cashing in through NIL.
Wood released “No-Maha” T-shirts as part of an NIL deal with BreakingT. The shirts are officially licensed by both Arkansas and the NCAA, and Wood will receive a portion of the proceeds.
Another shirt features Wood’s postgame quote to ESPN’s Kris Budden. The only blemish in the scorecard was a hit-by-pitch, and he lamented it afterward.
“I shouldn’t have hit the guy,” Wood said when asked about the no-hitter.
Wood spun a gem on the mound at Charles Schwab Field as part of his historic effort. He struck out 19 Murray State hitters, as well. But he also threw 119 pitches – though Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn said it wasn’t even a thought to take Wood out of the game as he closed in on history.
“I’ll be the first one to say it: There’s nothing being said or talked about our dugout whatsoever. We’re just going to let him roll,” Van Horn said after the game. “There was no chance he was coming out after eight.”

Heading into Monday’s matchup, Wood hadn’t thrown more than 89 pitches in a game all year. But he was throwing at a high level, which is why Van Horn said he didn’t have any issues leaving his star pitcher in the game.
“[Wood was] just executing pitch after pitch, getting ahead in the count, breaking the ball low in the dirt,” Van Horn said. “Not a problem because [catcher Ryder Helfrick] is back there and he blocks everything. And elevating his fastball in and out. Just what a great job. … Just glad we made all those plays. So close to the perfect game.”
Wood’s draft stock continues to rise as one of the top prospects available in this year’s MLB Draft. ESPN’s Jeff Passan also pointed out the impact Monday’s performance had on where things stand, and his first-round hopes are coming into focus.
“The expectation is that he’s going to be a mid-first round pick. Though a performance like this — similar to what Cade Horton did a couple years ago before the Cubs picked him toward the top of the first round — could be in the cards for Gage Wood as well,” Passan said.
