Florida State's Jordan Travis releases NIL merchandise following injury supporting Tate Rodemaker
Jordan Travis might be done on the field but he has no plans of slowing down his support for teammates.
The Florida State quarterback suffered a gruesome lower left leg injury against North Alabama on Saturday. In a letter released Monday on social media, he confirmed his season was over. He spent the weekend in the hospital after he was carted off the field with an air cast on his leg.
Now the fifth-year player is throwing his entire NIL brand behind his team. On top of a new set of T-shirts that include phrases like “FIN13H” and “#FINISHFOR13,” Travis has released an “18ELIEVE” shirt in honor of his backup, Tate Rodemaker. All profits from “18ELIEVE” apparel will go to Rodemaker, who was thrown into Saturday’s game and finished 13 of 23 for 217 yards and two touchdowns.
The junior will now be tasked with leading the Seminoles into the College Football Playoff. No. 4 in last week’s College Football Playoff rankings, they dropped to No. 5 in the latest AP Top 25.
“Being the quarterback here at Florida State University has been a dream come true,” Travis wrote in his letter Monday. “I am humbled, honored and forever grateful. The journey this team set out on is not over yet as all of our goals still lie just ahead. I am excited to be by my brothers’ sides every day as we continue our attack. We’re all we got, we’re all we need. Job’s not finished. Go Noles!”
Jordan Travis leaves mark at Florida State
A former Louisville transfer, Travis arrived in Tallahassee in 2019. In his career at Florida State, he’s helped the school return to national prominence while throwing for 8,715 yards and producing 10,676 yards of total offense in his career.
How the CFP Selection Committee views Florida State without Travis won’t be known until Tuesday night. The Seminoles visit The Swamp this weekend for their rivalry game against Florida before a meeting with Louisville in the ACC title game. They’ve won 16 consecutive games.
Now they’ll have to continue winning without their leader.
“Jordan will be talked about forever in this program,” head coach Mike Norvell said Monday in his weekly press conference. “It’s not necessarily going to be just about his playing ability. It’s going to be about who he is.”
