Aaron Rodgers heard Terry Bradshaw’s comments from May, saying the QB should stay in California and “chew some bark.” There was also a comment about Rodgers having to go “whisper to the gods.”

Bradshaw said it sarcastically when he was asked about the possibility of Rodgers joining the Pittsburgh Steelers. Well, the future Hall of Fame and four-time NFL MVP has since joined the team and they are underway at training camp.

But, Rodgers didn’t clap back but simply said Bradshaw doesn’t know him on a deeper level. But he’s open to getting to know the Steelers legend.

“I whisper to the gods every single day,” Rodgers told NFL Network’s Kyle Brandt. “I’ve known Terry for a long time, him being a part of FOX, Terry’s a legend. He’s an absolute legend. He won four Super Bowls. He’s had a legendary career in the media. But Terry, like a lot of people, doesn’t know me, and so he’s got an idea of what he thinks about me based on what I’ve done, the documentary, what I’ve said, darkness retreat, whatever the hell you want to talk about. I’d love to get to know Terry on a deeper level.

“And I feel like if he gave me a chance to get to know him, then we would have a good friendship, because for me, I have nothing but the utmost amount of respect and deference for what the greats have done, because they laid the foundation for us to be able to play in this great game, to be paid like kings and to carry on the tradition of excellence that guys like the Bradshaws of the world in 70s and Bart Starr in the 60s, and Lombardi And Joe Montana and Steve Young and Troy Aikman and Brett Favre and all the greats that have been over. Tom Brady.”

Bradshaw is a four-time Super Bowl champion, despite being left off most people’s GOAT list among quarterbacks. But there’s no doubt he was one of the big stars in the 1970s and is a Hall of Famer and Steelers icon for a reason. He knows what he’s talking about.

Still, Rodgers has respect for Bradshaw and others. If everything bodes well, Rodgers will play this, potential, final season with the Steelers and try to turn back the clock, so to speak.

“We’re standing on the backs of those guys, and it’s because of how they played and how they carried themselves that we’re able to have this opportunity to still play this great game, to get paid really well, to set ourselves up for our future,” Rodgers said. “So I’d love to get to know Terry on a deeper level, if he’s open to it and maybe we can go choose some bark or whatever he’s talking about, together.”
