Bills RB Ray Davis takes kick return 97 yards for TD vs. Texans
Buffalo Bills running back Ray Davis turned 26 Thursday. What better way to celebrate your birthday than by hitting pay dirt.
Yes, all touchdowns count the same. Some, however, are more electric than others. For Davis, this was arguably his finest moment in the NFL. Late in the second quarter of Thursday’s Week 12 road game against the Houston Texans, Davis returned a kickoff back the other way for a 97-yard score, his first career kickoff return touchdown.
Davis started his run at the 3-yard line, pinballed off a teammate near the 30-yard line and exploded into the open field. He easily maneuvered past Texans kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn and ran into the end zone untouched.

Davis’s house call gave the Bills a 16-13 lead. The Texans, however, scored with five seconds remaining before halftime, taking a 20-16 lead into the locker room.

Davis, the 2024 fourth-round selection out of Kentucky, has hardly seen much of the ball on offense this season. He entered Thursday’s game with 24 carries for 44 yards and four receptions for 18 yards.
Davis has been a major contributor on special teams, with a 30.6-yard return average on kickoffs. He has become a weapon for Buffalo, and he finally finished one off against the Texans.
