Breece Hall trade rumors: Kansas City Chiefs offered fourth-round pick for Jets RB, per report

After weeks of trade rumors, New York Jets RB Breece Hall stayed put. But the franchise had a notable offer for him, according to SNY’s Connor Hughes.
The Kansas City Chiefs offered the Jets a fourth-round pick for Hall, Hughes reported Tuesday afternoon. New York ultimately declined, holding strong at its asking price of at least a third-round pick. As a result, Hall did not get traded ahead of the deadline.
The Jets also heard offers on Jermaine Johnson, and Hughes said an offer came in for a second-round pick. Again, the franchise declined because it wanted more in return.
“Where things stood on Jermaine Johnson and Breece Hall, from what I am told, there was an offer out there for a second-round pick on Jermaine Johnson,” Hughes said. “The Jets wanted a little bit more. They were unable to negotiate that with a team, so no trade happened and Jermaine Johnson came back. With Breece Hall, there was an offer on the table for a fourth-round pick for Breece Hall. I was told that it was from the Kansas City Chiefs that were willing to trade for Breece Hall. The Jets were steadfast in wanting a third.
“So they wanted a third-round pick for Breece Hall. They were not able to get one. Only had a fourth-round offer. Jermaine Johnson, they had a second-round pick. Wasn’t something they were particularly interested in.”

The Jets were active ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline, notably making a blockbuster move by sending Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts. In exchange, New York received two first-round picks and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell. The Jets also sent Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys for Mazi Smith, a first-round pick and a second-round pick.
But with Hall and Quincy Williams staying put, Hughes said it’s now paramount that the Jets extend the duo. It’s worth noting Johnson has a fifth-year option in place for next year. But with Hall and Williams, extensions could be necessary since the Jets didn’t get anything for them via trade.
“Jermaine Johnson’s under team control with that fifth year option,” Hughes said. “Not trading Breece and Quincy [Williams], in my opinion, those two guys now need to be extended. You need to extend those two guys and bring those guys back. Otherwise, it makes zero sense on why you did not deal them here at the deadline.”
