Charlie Condon is making his case for the big league’s. On Friday, the former Georgia standout hit his first career home run at the Double-A level.

Moreover, Condon’s home run came against reigning AL Rookie of the Year Luis Gil. Gil started 29 games for the Yankees last season, totaling 151.2 innings on the mound. He recorded a 3.50 ERA and 171 strikeouts. Nonetheless, Condon made it look easy against Gil.

Condon’s home run had an exit velocity of 98 miles per hour and sailed for 357 feet before finally finding a home in the stands. The Colorado Rockies selected Condon with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft after he had a career season at Georgia.

Condon began his professional career with the High-A Spokane Indians. In 25 appearances, he logged .180/.248/.270 slash line. He notched one home run, 11 RBI and four stolen bases.

On March 14, 2025, Condon was ruled out for six weeks after suffering a non-displaced fracture in his left wrist. Condon looked like a different player after returning from his injury, slashing .312/.431/.420 with three home runs and 17 RBI in another 35 games for the Indians.

On June 29, Condon was called up to play for Hartford Yard Goats in the AA. If Condon keeps up his momentum, it won’t be long before he suits up for the Colorado Rockies.

After all, Charlie Condon’s success isn’t going unnoticed. On June 30, Condon was selected to play in the MLB All-Star Futures Game.

“I’m excited for the chance to represent the Rockies at this year’s Futures Game,” Condon said. “It’s a tremendous honor to be selected for this game and I’m looking forward to testing myself against the best prospects in baseball.”

Condon spent three seasons at Georgia, including his redshirt year in 2022. In 2024, Condon led the country in batting average (.443), home runs (a BBCOR-era record 37), slugging percentage (1.009), and OPS (1.565). Additionally, he ranked second in total bases (233) and third in on base percentage (.556).

For his efforts, he was named the SEC Player of the Year and became Georgia’s first player to win the Dick Howser Trophy and the Golden Spikes Award. Moreover, he was named 2024 Player of the Year by Baseball America, D1Baseball and Perfect Game, and was a consensus All-American. Now, Condon will look to build on his momentum and find immense success at the next level as well.
