Florida State at SMU odds: Early point spread released, How to Watch

Florida State is set to square off against new ACC member SMU in a road contest that will see the Seminoles head to Dallas.
It should be an interesting matchup between teams that have had very different 2024 campaigns so far. While SMU is now 3-1 on and coming off a nice win over TCU, Florida State just notched its first win against California.
According to lines listed by FanDuel, SMU will enter the game as a 3.5-point favorite over Florida State. The over/under points total for the game is set at 47.5 points.
That sets the expectation going into the game: This should be a relatively even contest, with home field perhaps providing a slight edge to SMU.

Florida State has had an adventurous start to the 2024 season, losing three straight games to open the year. It’s been a bit of a disaster, with quarterback questions still lingering.
Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei has been the guy so far for coach Mike Norvell, but he continues to turn the football over. As such, there remains a question of whether he could be lifted at some point down the road.

In any case, running back Lawrance Toafili paces things in the backfield, while receivers Ja’Khi Douglas and Malik Benson are the primary targets in the passing game.
The defense has been a bit of an issue this season, though the Seminoles are coming off a seven-sack performance against Cal. If that can carry over it would aid Florida State greatly.
SMU, on the other hand, is 3-1 this season after falling to BYU in the non-conference. But the team bounced back nicely with a big win over TCU, perhaps regaining some momentum.
The Mustangs have played multiple quarterbacks this season, so Florida State will have to be on high alert. Meanwhile, running back Brashard Smith is a weapon, already accounting for seven total touchdowns.
