Florida State QB Tommy Castellanos declares for 2026 NFL Draft
Florida State quarterback Tommy Castellanos has declared for the 2026 NFL Draft, he announced via social media. He is coming off one season with the Seminoles after transferring from Boston College.
Castellanos began his college career at UCF in 2022, where he first worked with Gus Malzahn. He then transferred to Boston College in 2023, spending two years with the Eagles, before reuniting with Malzahn at Florida State this past season.
Now, Castellanos is preparing to take his talents to the next level. He released a statement announcing his intentions to declare for the draft.
“To Florida State, thank you for changing my life,” Castellanos wrote in his Instagram post. “Being a Seminole has been an absolute dream come true. From the relationships built to the moments that will stay with me forever, I’m proud to graduate from this incredible university and I will carry the garnet and gold with me wherever I go.
“To Boston College, thank you for changing my life. Being a part of such an amazing institution has been one of the greatest honors I could ever experience. I’m excited to announced that I will be declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft.”
Castellanos just completed his fourth season of college football and filed for an NCAA waiver to play another season. He appeared in five games as a true freshman at UCF, including the American Conference title game against Tulane.
However, Florida State coach Mike Norvell announced the waiver was denied. Castellanos’ agent Joe Hernandez of Just Win Management, as well as lawyers Darren Heitner and Paul Aloise, also released a statement Tuesday reiterating their stance he deserved another year. They also expressed their support as he declared for the draft.

“It has been a pleasure representing QB Tommy Castellanos as he fought to gain another year of eligibility from the NCAA, which we firmly believe he deserves,” the statement read. “While the unique facts and circumstances surrounding the petition for an additional year of eligibility did create a path of viability, after careful review and consideration, we fully support Mr. Castellanos’ decision to forego that continued pursuit and focus his attention on preparing for the 2026 NFL Draft.”
