Once a report surfaced of Jalen Milroe being invited to the 2025 NFL Draft and accepting, social media went ablaze. Milroe is a polarizing prospect due to immense highs and lows as a quarterback.

The former Alabama star is considered a mid-round prospect and perhaps even as high as a second round pick. But NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport found this report curious as to why Milroe would be invited to Green Bay in person.

Granted, going to the draft does not mean Milroe is a first round pick in a couple of weeks. But this situation is certainly not nothing!

“I have not confirmed anything about a draft invite, and those will get announced when they get announced,” Rapoport said on The Pat McAfee Show. “I mean, it makes sense, but I will not, I do not touch, those will get announced. Okay, if a player gets invited … it doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re going in the first round. It means plenty of teams view him as a first rounder, or whatever it is, right? Like, because every year, there are players who get invited and then don’t get taken in the first round … So, like, it was interesting to me when I saw the report. I don’t necessarily know that that means Jalen Milroe is definitely going to the first round, but it does seem to mean that he’s in that conversation.”

Milroe, meanwhile, remains a bit of an enigma for draft evaluators, with some raving about his athletic gifts as both a natural runner with electric speed and strong throwing arm, while others remain critical of his accuracy and consistency as a passer after throwing a career-worst 11 interceptions last season.

Still, some like FS1 radio host Colin Cowherd believe teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers are enamored with Milroe’s overall makeup. He think his athletic gifts will translate well into the NFL.

As far as who Milroe competes with for QB3 in the late first round or early second round? There’s a couple of names: Jaxson Dart of Ole Miss and Quinn Ewers of Texas.

“Does that make us kind of go, like, all right, hang on. Like, is he in contention to be the third quarterback taken,” Rapoport said. “Sounds like he is. So it’d be like, Jaxson Dart, who could potentially be the third you have Jalen Milroe, you have Quinn Ewers. Like, the evaluations are all over the map.

“I was not surprised when I saw the report but I was like all right, like this really is more all over than I even realized. It’s going to lead to an unbelievably wild first, and maybe second round of this draft.”
