The latest national championship odds are here and they saw a shakeup following Week 5 of college football. All odds are courtesy of BetMGM.

The biggest results came Saturday night as Oregon beat Penn State and Alabama beat Georgia. Talk about turning the Big Ten and SEC upside down, opening the floodgates.

Of course, some other teams made statements as well, as evidenced by the latest odds. Let’s dive into the national championship favorites.

Ohio State (+500)

Ohio State is the favorite among national championship odds through Week 5. The defending champs are still undefeated and just beat Washington on the road.

In the 24-6 win, Julian Sayin threw for 208 yards and two touchdowns. The Buckeyes’ defense limited the Huskies to just 234 total yards and two field goals.

Oregon (+600)

Oregon made a statement with a 30-24 win over Penn State in double overtime. The Ducks national championship odds shortened and they are the second likeliest team to win it all.

Dante Moore is in the Heisman conversation, Dan Lanning might be coach of the year and everything’s coming up Oregon. This is a scary team right now.

Texas (+700)

The Longhorns have the third best national championship odds despite having a week off. It’s almost like we forgot about Texas considering the less-than-stellar loss to Ohio State to start the year.

Arch Manning might be back on proper footing and the SEC suddenly opened up and it could be anyone’s race among, what, six or so teams right now? Don’t overlook the talent on this squad.

Penn State (+800)

Penn State still has solid national championship odds despite the loss to Oregon. But the Nittany Lions still have to play Ohio State later this year and might have to hope for a College Football Playoff spot at 10-2, based on recent history.

They’re still in the top four in this list, but James Franklin’s lack of big game success is certainly something to refer to when making bets. You might want to stay away from the Nittany Lions.

Alabama (+850)

Alabama is back in the thick of the national championship conversation after beating Georgia on the road. The Crimson Tide were basically left for dead after losing to Florida State on opening weekend.

How things have changed. Ty Simpson is playing at a high level under center and the defense looks to be for real. The SEC race will be wild.

Georgia (+1,000)

Speaking of Georgia, to simply say they won’t win a national championship is disingenuous. The Bulldogs still have the firepower on both sides of the ball to do it.

But, QB Gunner Stockton came back down to Earth against the Crimson Tide. We’ll see how Kirby Smart and crew respond.

Miami (+1,200)

The Hurricanes also had the week off but the national championship seems like more of a possibility than last season. Miami is rolling and have Florida State on the road this coming week.

But, the defense is getting after opponents, Carson Beck might be the best he’s ever been and Mario Cristobal has all facets of the program clicking. The ACC is theirs to lose.

Ole Miss (+2,000)

The Rebels are in the national championship conversation and yes, that’s a real sentence. Ole Miss is 5-0 after beating LSU, have an intriguing and talented QB situation and some real players on both sides of the ball.

Lane Kiffin seemingly has his teams in position for special seasons but have yet to get over the hump. Perhaps this year is a little different!

Oklahoma (+2,000)

Oklahoma was another team that had a bye week Saturday but is still in the top 10 among national championship odds. The Sooners are in an intriguing spot though because despite the talent, QB John Mateer is out with injury for now.

Mateer might miss the Texas game, which would vastly affect their odds. Perhaps the Sooners’ season hangs in the balance over the next couple of weeks.

Notre Dame (+2,500)

Notre Dame is still hanging around when it comes to the national championship conversation. The Fighting Irish have won two in a row, most recently a 56-13 blowout win over Arkansas.

But they know the situation. They likely have to win out and get to 10-2 to get in the CFP. The schedule sets up as a possibility, but it’s still a tough task.

National Championship Odds after Week 5

LSU (+2,500)
Texas A&M (+2,500)
Michigan (+4,000)
Indiana (+4,000)
Tennessee (+5,000)
Missouri (+5,000)
Texas Tech (+6,000)
Auburn (+8,000)
Florida State (+8,000)
USC (+10,000)
Vanderbilt (+10,000)
Washington (+12,500)
