NFL rules analyst Dean Blandino seems to be over with the Tush Push after watching the Philadelphia Eagles defeat the Kansas City Chiefs. During the broadcast of the Week 2 matchup, Blandino weighed in on the Eagles using the Tush Push to secure the win.

“I am done with the tush push, guys,” Dean Blandino said on Fox. “It’s a hard play to officiate.” Blandino was brought in because the Chiefs thought the Eagles fumbled on the play. But because there were multiple bodies bunched together, there was no evidence to overturn the ruling.

The Tush Push was a hot topic during the offseason, as the Green Bay Packers issued a proposal to ban the play. The NFL owners voted on the proposal in May, but it did not receive enough votes to pass.

Eagles HC sounds off on teams who are against the Tush Push

“I’ve seen some of the stuff that it’s an automatic play or that it’s not,” Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said about the Tush Push, per NFL.com. “We work really, really [hard]. I almost feel a little insulted because we work so hard at that play. The amount of things that we’ve looked into how to coach that play, the fundamentals. There’s a thousand plays out there, but it comes down to how you teach the fundamentals and how the players go through and do the fundamentals.

“I can’t tell you how many times we practiced the snap. We practice the play because it’s not a play that’s easy to practice, so there’s different ways we figured out how to practice it.”

In April, former Eagles offensive lineman Jason Kelce explained why the play should not be banned from the NFL. “I get it,” Kelce said. “I get why certain teams want to ban it for competitive reasons. I get why some people think that it’s potentially unsafe. I think optically it looks unsafe. For me personally, I never felt like there’s that much more of a risk of injuring somebody on the play, and I don’t think there’s any statistics to back that up.”

The Tush Push is one of the many reasons the Eagles won the Super Bowl last year. It has now helped them start this season with a 2-0 record.
