Orlando Magic select Jase Richardson in 2025 NBA Draft

The Orlando Magic have selected Jase Richardson with the No. 25 pick of the 2025 NBA Draft. The point guard played his college basketball for the Michigan State Spartans.
Jase Richardson played his high school basketball at Columbus in Miami, Florida. There, he was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2024. He was also the 34th-ranked player nationally, the fifth-ranked point guard, and the eighth-ranked player in the state of Florida.
As a freshman for the 2024-25 season, Richardson appeared in 36 games and started 15 for the Spartans. The first of those starts came in early February and he would start each of the final 15 games of the season for Michigan State. In that time, he averaged 25.3 minutes per game.
For the season, Richardson averaged 12.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. He shot 49.3 percent from the field, 41.2 percent from three-point range, and 83.6 percent from the free throw line for the season too. On the defensive end, he had 0.8 steals and 0.3 blocks per game.
Jase Richardson received numerous honors throughout his playing career. He was a Third-Team All-Big Ten selection and Big Ten All-Freshman Team honoree for his first and only season of college basketball.

The Michigan State Spartans had an excellent regular season last year, in no small part because of the play of Jase Richardson. The Spartans would go 30-7 overall and 17-3 in Big Ten play. That was good enough to win the Big Ten in the regular season. March saw Michigan State then go on an excellent run too, making it all the way to the Elite Eight.
What NBA Draft experts are saying about Jase Richardson
The NBA Draft is rapidly approaching. With that, On3’s NBA Draft expert James Fletcher shared some of his thoughts on top prospects entering the NBA. That includes Jase Richardson.
“Jase Richardson is a fascinating NBA prospect who does not bring great size,” Fletcher wrote. “But whose winning impact become undeniable during the college season. A transition to the starting lineup kickstarted the offense and allowed him to unlock more, although the ability to translate into a professional role remains a question.”
Only time will tell if Jase Richardson is going to be able to make it in the NBA. One thing is clear, though, and that’s that he has the talent to succeed. Now that he knows where he’s going to be going, the next task is to focus on his development.
