Report: Bills request head coach interview with Brian DaBoll
The Buffalo Bills have requested to interview former New York Giants head coach Brian DaBoll, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported. He was fired by the Giants 10 games into the 2025 season.
Brian DaBoll would coach the Giants from 2022 to 2025. During that time, he went 20-40-1. That was after an exciting start in 2022, when New York went 9-7-1 and made the divisional round of the playoffs.
Along with the Bills’ job, DaBoll has received significant interest from around the NFL as an offensive coordinator. That includes from the Philadelphia Eagles, who reportedly interviewed him for their open position less than a week ago.
Brian DaBoll is an Upstate New York native who was raised in West Seneca. He’d go on to attend the University of Rochester, where he played defensive back on the football team. He would later begin his coaching career in 1997 as a volunteer assistant for William & Mary.
By 2000, DaBoll would earn his first NFL job as a defensive assistant for the New England Patriots. In 2002, he made the jump to offense, becoming New England’s wide receivers coach. He won three Super Bowls during that stretch. DaBoll would win a later two Super Bowls as New England’s tight ends coach. He’d later have a stop as the quarterbacks coach of the New York Jets before getting his first chance to be an offensive coordinator in 2009 with the Cleveland Browns.

In 2017, DaBoll would spend one season in college. There, he was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Along with Cleveland, DaBoll has been the offensive coordinator with the Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Buffalo Bills. That stint with the Bills was from 2018-2021, right before he took the open Giants job. Working under Sean McDermott, DaBoll got experience within the Bills organization and working with quarterback Josh Allen.
The Buffalo Bills are coming off a long string of success under McDermott. In his nine seasons with the Bills, he posted a 98-50 record overall. They’d make the playoffs in eight of the nine seasons McDermott was in Buffalo, winning the AFC East in five straight seasons. However, after an early playoff exit and finishing second place in the AFC East in 2025, the Bills made a move at head coach.
Buffalo is hoping its next head coach is going to find a way to get the Bills over the hump in the next few seasons. Whether or not that’s going to be Brian DaBoll remains to be seen.
