Roger Goodell addresses whether Taylor Swift will perform Super Bowl halftime show

Now that she’s officially engaged to marry Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, there has been rampant speculation global pop mega-star Taylor Swift could headline a future Super Bowl.
For its part, the NFL is completely on board if the future Mrs. Kelce-Swift — or Swift-Kelce — is interested in performing during the league’s premier event.
“We would always love to have Taylor play,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said during a Tuesday morning appearance on the Today show. “She is a special, special talent, and obviously she would be welcome at any time.”
Goodell was far less forthcoming regarding whether anything is currently in the works with Swift.
“I can’t tell you anything about it,” Goodell added, “It’s a maybe.”
Goodell then joked he’s “waiting on my friend Jay-Z. It’s in his hands. I’m waiting for the (white) smoke to come out.” Rapper Jay-Z and his company Roc Nation produce the Super Bowl halftime shows.
Rapper Kendrick Lamar put on a controversial Super Bowl LIX halftime show this past February in New Orleans, but the league has yet to announce plans for the upcoming Super Bowl LX‘s halftime act.
Could Taylor Swift end up serenading her future husband with “Love Story” when the Chiefs make their fourth consecutive Super Bowl appearance this upcoming February? Only time will tell, because clearly Roger Goodell isn’t spilling the beans just yet.
Taylor Swift has become a regular figure at Kansas City games since they pair formally confirmed their relationship early in the 2023 season, and the pair even made their first post-engagement public appearance in last week’s Cincinnati–Nebraska game at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

Taylor Swift attends Nebraska vs. Cincinnati game at Arrowhead Stadium
There were questions about whether Swift and Kelce would be at last week’s game considering who was playing. After all, Kelce played for Cincinnati from 2008-12 before beginning his decorated career in Kansas City Chiefs. Since his alma mater was in town, he was expected to attend.
It was still unclear if Swift would be there with him, though. The Cincinnati Football X account had its cameras ready, though, capturing the moment the pop star walked in alongside Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany.
Swift has had a constant presence at Chiefs games since she started dating Kelce in 2023. Their relationship began shortly after Kelce went on his podcast and expressed his disappointment he didn’t get to meet Swift at a concert at Arrowhead – a moment she called a “man-tantrum” during an appearance on his New Heights podcast.
The couple has been the talk of the sports and entertainment worlds since. During their first year together, Kelce got a Super Bowl ring with the Chiefs. Now, Swift has a ring of her own after he proposed in a moment captured in the Instagram post heard ’round the world.
It turns out, Kelce proposed to Swift around the time she appeared on his podcast alongside his brother, Jason. She announced her album The Life of a Showgirl, which will release in October, in a rare interview with the two brothers.
