Ryan Preece knows a thing or two about going airborne. So, he’s bringing his own rocket ship to the Snowball Derby this year. The “Apollo 60” is Preece’s Ford Super Late Model. He’s ready, with some help from the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile, to win himself a Snowball.

RaceChoice.com and Oscar Mayer have come together to sponsor this No. 60 entry in the Snowball Derby. Ryan Preece is a short track guy. His background might be in modifieds, but I won’t be shocked to see him being very competitive in Pensacola next week.

With his flights at Daytona getting so much media attention in the last couple of years, why not embrace it? Preece has a rocket and he’s ready to fly at Five Flags Speedway.

A number of NASCAR drivers will be in the field. Noah Gragson and Kyle Busch will be in the field. Erik Jones and Ty Majeski are entered. There are many more, too. This is one of the biggest races of the year. Even for these Cup guys, the Snowball Derby is on their bucket list.

RFK Racing took a chance on Preece in 2025, and it paid off. He showed that he belongs in the Cup Serie,s and with a little bit of support from his team, he can do good things on the track. Everyone at RFK Racing was SO close to winning throughout the year, but it never happened.

Getting a win in the Snowball Derby could do a lot for Preece and his confidence. It would be a massive offseason win going into the 2026 Cup Series season.

Ryan Preece enters packed Snowball Derby field

The talent and experience on display in this year’s Snowball Derby are astounding. It really has attracted the best of the best stock car racers to Pensacola and is going to be a cutthroat competition to make the field, not to mention win the race.

Whatever RFK Racing has going on, I love it. While others seemingly talk about being “blue collar” or “hands on” or whatever buzzwords they want to use to relate to the average fan, RFK is just doing the work. Simple as that. Not to mention, their sponsors lend themselves to being accessible to the average fan, whether that is Kroger and food products or Fastenal or Solomon Plumbing, I could go on.

Then you look at the drivers for the team. Brad Keselowski comes from a family of racers who have built their own cars for years. Chris Buescher is really just a guy from Texas that is REALLY good at racing cars. He is down to earth, has earned his place in Cup, does his job, and doesn’t complain much. What else could you want from a stock car driver?

Ryan Preece and his story are perfect for that “blue collar” framing. Modified driver who had to scrape and claw his way to getting any kind of decent ride. Makes the most of a Truck Series start and wins, but then suffers on teams that didn’t always have the resources to be supportive. Now, he finds himself in a new home where he fits perfectly into the No. 60 car. How do you think Preece will do in the Snowball Derby?
