SEC Championship odds: Opening point spread released for Alabama vs. Georgia, How to Watch
Following a wild season in the Southeastern Conference, we’re getting a familiar matchup in the SEC Championship game: Alabama vs. Georgia. It’s the fifth time the two programs have met in the conference championship game.
It’s Georgia’s fifth consecutive SEC Championship game appearance, and has made the game in eight of the last nine seasons. However, Alabama has won 10 of the last 11 meetings against the Bulldogs. The Crimson Tide most recently defeated Georgia 24-21 in Athens on Sept. 27 earlier this season.
That being said, the Bulldogs have opened as 1.5-point favorites over the Crimson Tide. The over/under is set at 47.5 points. All odds are courtesy of BetMGM.

When these two teams met in Athens in September, Alabama was able to come out on top after holding the Bulldogs to one touchdown in the second half. Alabama QB Ty Simpson accounted for three touchdowns during the win, while Georgia’s Gunner Stockton was held in check by the Crimson Tide. He finished the game with 130 passing yards and one touchdown.
The victory improved Alabama to 3-1 at the time, and kicked off a four-game stretch where the Crimson Tide beat ranked SEC in consecutive matchups. It was Georgia’s first — and only — loss all season.

Now, Georgia is playing for a chance to earn a first-round bye in the College Football Playoff. Meanwhile, the Crimson Tide can potentially host a first-round playoff game if they win. Currently ranked No. 10, Alabama would be expected to move up slightly in the final CFP rankings, but would need to be seeded 5-8 for that to happen.
