Tom Brady compares Jake Bobo TD to Beastquake: 'Last week it was a Shaheed-quake, a Bobo-quake on this one'

The swings in conference championship games can be immediate and costly, and the Los Angeles Rams found that out the hard way early in the second half on Sunday afternoon. Shortly after coughing up a fumble on a punt return, the Rams watched the Seahawks convert it into a touchdown via an unlikely hero: Jake Bobo.

The receiver entered Sunday’s game with only three catches the entire season. No matter.

When Sam Darnold dropped to pass, he looked one way and brought the coverage over with his eyes. Jake Bobo did the rest with a double move on a post corner on the other side of the formation.

The touchdown strike, which put the Seahawks up 24-13 in the game, even drew some rare praise from commentator Tom Brady. He compared the moment to the famous Marshawn Lynch run against the New Orleans Saints in the playoffs more than a decade ago dubbed the “Beastquake.”

“Last week it was a Shaheed-quake, a Bobo-quake on this one,” Brady said. “The 12s are fired up. All the coverage was rotating to the right side of the field. Bobo with the little wiggle to the corner, back to the post. All the room Darnold needs to lay one out there for him.”

The connection was perfect, driving the dagger home after the costly miscue by the Rams. The Seahawks extended the lead to double-digits.

The improbability of Jake Bobo being the one to help do so, though, drew the attention of the broadcast crew. Kevin Burkhardt also chimed in.

“The fumble recovery by Dareke Young leads to the touchdown to Jake Bobo,” Burkhardt said. “Tell me if you had that on your Bingo card. And they love it for Jake.”

Brady then finished off the thought just about everyone was having on Jake Bobo. An incredible moment, to say the least.

“We were not thinking Bobo,” Brady said. “But Bobo comes down with it.”
