McCalister is a player we like right now but will really like a year from now. He has some obvious traits that translate well to college and his game will take a big jump over the next year as he fills out, adds some strength in his upper body and fine-tunes a few things mechanically. McCalister plays for a great program in the Southern California area that is known for developing quarterbacks. Film Review Notes
A rare quarterback who plays predominantly under center. Shows very good footwork in the pocket and gets good depth on his three-, five- and seven-step drops. Looks balanced when he plants and throws and can drive the ball down the field. Does a nice job climbing the pocket and can take off and run when pressured or when the pocket collapses. Has the athleticism to escape and extend plays outside the pocket or on designed rollouts. Shows toughness and will stand in and take a shot to deliver the ball down the field. Has a lean frame and will need to add some size to his upper body but has a lot of traits that project well to the college level.
