COLUMBUS — Ohio State would have loved for Jason Moore to become an impact defensive tackle years ago. Better later than never, though, right?

Jason Moore

Jason Moore is coached by Bill McGregor, who is considered one of the top high school coaches in the country. So, when McGregor heaps praise on Moore it just means more. “I think he has a tremendous upside,” McGregor told On3’s BlueandGold.com. “He's a great young man. He made our varsity football team as a ninth-grader and actually started about halfway through the season and had a great ninth-grade year. He's big. He's strong. He's athletic. He has good grades. And he wants to be successful. Comes from great stock. His brother is Justin Moore, who plays basketball for Villanova. A great family, great mom, great dad. Nothing but great things are going to happen for him.” Away from football, Moore says his hobbies are playing video games and art. His parents are Keli and Greg Moore.

Edge

Jason Moore has similar size, length and physical dimensions to Quinton Coples and reminds us of the former North Carolina and NFL defensive lineman's playing style as a big, versatile defensive lineman who can play multiple roles on a front.

Elite / Top 100

Moore is one of the more physically imposing defensive prospects in the 2023 cycle, standing over 6-foot-5, 260 pounds entering his senior season. He added over 25 pounds between his junior and senior off-seasons. Played varsity football and basketball at powerhouse DeMatha dating back to his freshman season. Has the athleticism and size to play as a strong-side end or three-technique tackle at the next level. Moore uses length in order to keep chest clean consistently against the run. Shows constant pursuit to the ball carrier from the backside. Looks to be a high-motor player. Productive while facing top competition, tallying 13 sacks as a junior. Needs to refine hand usage and pass rush arsenal in order to reach his full potential. Has the frame to continue adding mass once in a college strength program. Older for the class, turning 18-years old as a junior.
