Linkon Cure proudly wears the label of a small-town hero. Growing up in Goodland, Kansas – a town in northwestern Kansas with only 4,500 people – Cure did it all. He played football, basketball and even ran the 300-meters and 110-meter hurdles for the track team. He also supports his community as a youth basketball coach. "I could be one of those guys that's a one-sport athlete, but I love giving back to my community and participating in everything," Cure said. "It definitely means a lot to me to do those other two sports. ... I can definitely tell who's one-sport athletes and who's multiple-sport athletes. They just move differently. It helps a lot." That versatility has helped him develop on the football field for sure, his high school coach said. "We know he's going to end up playing on the offensive side of the ball but is he going to be a true tight end that's attached all the time? Is he going to be a tight end, an H-back, a true wideout at times?" Goodland coach Jordan Moshier said. "His versatility is very exciting not only for us, but for future potential teams. I think it just allows him to be able to be utilized not only earlier than maybe some others, but I think more often as well."

Linkon Cure's frame, multi-sport background and athleticism as a pass-catcher remind us of Sam LaPorta. We also see some similarities between Cure's elite athleticism and what we saw from Brock Bowers out of high school.

Elite / Top 100

Elite jumbo athlete who has prototypical athleticism and skills for the position. Measured at 6-foot-4.5, 210 with a 32-inch arm and 10-inch hand prior to his senior season. Highly decorated track athlete as three-time state champion in the 110 meter (14.52 seconds) and 300 meter (38.90 seconds) hurdles. Also ran a very impressive 11.05 second mark in the 100 meters as a junior. Hails from a remote area of northwest Kansas and looks like a man amongst boys on Friday nights. Athleticism jumps off the film. A fluid, natural mover. Gets up to full speed quickly. Lines up both split out and in-line on offense. Shows a large catch radius. Contorts his body to make high level grabs. Comes down with contested catches in traffic. Has the ability to take it to the house after the catch. Finished his senior season with 1,049 yards and 17 touchdowns on 57 catches in just nine games. Additionally rushed for 191 yards and six touchdowns. Also plays defense. Excels on the hardwood, scoring in double figures for a state finalist team as a junior. Shows off his athleticism, throwing down impressive dunks. How he measures and looks in a neutral setting will add much more clarity to his evaluation given the lower level of competition he faces. Elite multi-sport profile and athleticism give him a very high ceiling at the position.
