Watsonville (Calif.) Archbishop Riordan three-star athlete Perrion Williams announced on Tuesday afternoon that he has decommitted from Utah.

He was pledged to the Utes since June 21, but is now looking elsewhere with National Signing Day just over a week away. Williams announced his decision via X:

“I would like to announce that I am decommitting from the University of Utah. I’m grateful for the opportunity and for everyone on the coaching staff who believed in me throughout the process. After careful consideration, I’ve decided to reopen my recruitment to find the best fit for my future both on and off the field. My recruitment is now 100-percent open.”

Williams is the No. 35 athlete and No. 91 recruit in California in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He checks in as the No. 1,131 prospect overall.

In addition to Utah, Williams also holds offers from Washington State, UNLV, Oregon State, Minnesota, Sacramento State and others. His decision leaves the Utes with 15 total commits and a class that ranks No. 34 nationally, according to the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Williams was a part of an Archbishop Riordan team that claimed a Central Coast Section title and went 12-0 this fall. The Crusaders are the No. 14 team in the Golden State, according to the Massey Ratings.

Looking at Utah’s 2026 class

Despite losing Williams’ pledge, Utah still has the No. 5 class in the Big 12. An elite trench monster is a big reason why.

On July 1, Utah landed Fruitland (Idaho) offensive tackle Kelvin Obot. He’s long been one of the top recruits in the Rivals300 and checked in at No. 3 overall in the latest update earlier this month. Obot has remained rock-solid with head coach Kyle Whittingham and Co.

“Obot is a high upside offensive tackle prospect with an impressive combination of size and athleticism,” Rivals Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power recently wrote. “The 6-foot-6 300-pounder is a two-way standout for his Fruitland High team and we feel he has one of the highest ceilings among offensive line prospects in the cycle.”

He’s one of two blue-chippers in the class, alongside American Fork (Utah) Lone Peak wide receiver Jaron Pula, the No. 44 pass-catcher in the nation. Pula and his twin brother, Kennan, flipped to the Utes from UCLA in July.

Other top commits in the class include: West Valley City (Utah) Lehi three-star interior offensive lineman Mataalii Benjamin, Lake Oswego (Ore.) three-star running back LaMarcus Bell, Rio Rancho (N.M.) V. Sue Cleveland three-star IOL Moses Sparks, League City (Texas) Clear Falls three-star linebacker Preston Pitts and Meridian (Idaho) three-star LB LaGary Mitchell.
