2027 4-star QB Peyton Houston sets commitment date

Cotton Valley (La.) Evangel Christian Academy four-star quarterback Peyton Houston is set to be one of the next top junior signal-callers to come off the board.
The 5-foot-10, 200-pounder tells Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett that he will announce his commitment in just 10 days on Sept. 15. He did not tab a group of finalists.
Houston is the No. 94 overall prospect and No. 8 QB in the 2027 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 5 junior in Louisiana.
Since the beginning of July, USC has been the program with momentum in Houston’s recruitment. On July 7, Rivals recruiting insiders Steve Wiltfong and Sam Spiegelman each logged picks in the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine in favor of the Trojans landing the four-star.
“USC is well-positioned with the very coveted four-star 2027 passer Peyton Houston out of Shreveport (La.) Evangel,” Spiegelman wrote on Aug. 11. “Houston returned to Los Angeles for a second time in June to privately work out for Lincoln Riley. Since Riley made the move to offer Houston in the spring, the arrow has continued to point up for the Trojans in this race.”

Houston is close with current USC four-star wide receiver commit Boobie Feaster, a fellow Cotton Valley native who checks in as one of the top pass-catchers in the 2026 cycle. The two could eventually team up together out in Los Angeles.
Oklahoma and LSU have also been mentioned frequently in the battle for Houston. He is set to be in Norman this weekend for the Sooners’ game against Michigan.
As a sophomore, Houston threw for over 4,400 yards and 38 touchdowns to six interceptions, per MaxPreps. He also rushed for nearly 700 yards and an additional seven scores. Evangel went 6-6 a year ago and is off to a 1-1 start this season. The Eagles currently rank as the No. 19 team in Louisiana, per the Rivals Composite Rankings.
