2027 WR Demaje Riley decommits from UCLA

Tulare (Calif.) Union three-star wide receiver Demaje Riley has decommitted from UCLA, he announced on Sunday.
Pledged to the in-state program since Nov. 26, Riley is the latest to hit the reset button after the Bruins fired head coach DeShaun Foster amidst an 0-3 start this season.
Riley is the No. 355 overall prospect and No. 46 WR in the 2027 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 38 junior in the Golden State.
The 5-foot-10 pass-catcher was one of three early commits for UCLA in the 2027 cycle. The Bruins were Riley’s second Division I offer and made an early move to land his pledge. With changes coming in Westwood, though, Riley has opted to open his process back up. He joins a slew of 2026 prospects that have also already decommitted from the Bruins.
Three-star safety Royalton Allen and wide receiver Trysten Shaw are now the lone junior commits for the Big Ten program to date. UCLA’s 2026 recruiting class is now down to 17 pledges following decommitments from four-star offensive tackle Johnnie Jones, three-star defensive lineman Anthony Jones, three-star EDGE Yahya Gaad, three-star DL David Schwerzel and three-star linebacker Ramzak Fruean.

UCLA fires DeShaun Foster
Foster finished his time at UCLA with a 5-10 record, going 5-7 in 2024. The Bruins started 1-5 but rallied down the stretch, signaling good things to come. However, it was not be for Foster at his alma mater.
“Yeah, it’s pretty low right now,” Foster said after UCLA’s loss to the Lobos this weekend. “Like you said, I’ve been around this program for a long time. It’s just unfortunate what’s going on at this moment. We’re just not executing.”
Foster was even asked after the latest loss if he was still the right guy to be able to lead UCLA. The administration thought otherwise.
“Most definitely,” Foster said Saturday night. “(Why?) Because I can get these boys to play … “If you’re a real Bruin, you’ll still be a fan. There are plenty of programs that have had unfortunate starts who have turned stuff around. You’re either going to stick with it or not.”
