2026 OT Daniel McMorris decommits from Minnesota

After committing to Minnesota on June 1 following his official visit, Daniel McMorris, the No. 38 offensive tackle in the country, has decided to reopen his recruitment.
The 6-foot-5, 265-pound standout from North Norman High School (Okla.) backed off his pledge to the Golden Gophers this week, citing the need to explore other opportunities.
“I ultimately decommitted because I think there are better opportunities ahead of me,” McMorris told Rivals. “I’ve been thinking about it for a month or so, and I had to make sure it was the right decision. I think now is the right time.”
Since committing to Minnesota, McMorris has continued to hear from programs such as Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech. He plans to take his time with the process but already has one visit locked in.

“I haven’t scheduled all of the visits I plan to take yet, but I am taking an official visit to Texas Tech on September 13,” McMorris said. “I’m not sure when I’ll make my decision, but it will probably be sometime in November.”
The three-star lineman also confirmed he will be an early enrollee, planning to graduate in December and enroll at his next school in January.
